I thinking because the more Minorities we have it the political system, the more our Government seems to be corrupt, now before you think I'm raciest or something like that.
Look at most African countries where people are being killed for no reason.
Or just look at Mexico.
That country is run by organized crime, don't you dare think it's not!
I've been there, some places are nice, but I would never want to live there.
Now I’m just basing my question on their countries, what do you think?

Well when my family came here we were not minorities.
There were a lot of Caucasians here at the time.
But you all or most of you have answered my question with the most racist answers.
You acknowledge there is a problem, your reason is “we all hate”, but who’s doing the hating?
Well you answered that, Minorities and You

In African countries, Africans are the MAJORITY.
In Mexico, Mexicans are the MAJORITY.
Your point doesn't really hold water.

Let me explain this. When England and most of Europe conquered Africa and India it basically stunted their progress, to explain this it would take another long essay. Believe it or not India has had a great history and had a pretty big empire oh, many hundreds of years ago before the British came. And before Europe was even thinking of getting out of the Middle or Dark ages there were various empires in Africa that some of which were Muslim (the only reason why Spain never really fell into the Dark Ages) , and others of Pagan beliefs that were the ones that passed knowledge and commerce into Europe. Mexico, and South America, fine and dandy, before the Spaniards (yes, my very ancestors, cause I am also a minority, Cuban-American, but I have read enough history to actually be a bit open-minded) attacked and destroyed the progress.

Lets pass a few hundreds of years later, to tada, the landing of the Europeans into North America that belonged to the Natives. By the way hundreds of years ago We were the immigrants. And there was a time when the Jewish, the Irish, the Italians, the Germans, the French, and the English were minorities, and look at how well our country has grown. Is it not the truth that the minorities were the ones that made this country great today? I would think so. And let me ask you a little question, which minority do you ancestors fall into because if you are not related to a native American, then you are from another country?

And you know what will really destroy this country, GREED.
To every Great Empire comes a time to fall, as Rome fell so shall this one, and make room for another one.

And this thing about being politically incorrect is another of the problems that will affect this country into its destruction. We need controversial questions inorder to make us think and get us to debate. We are taking our number one right under the US Amendment to Free Speech, and thus I think this question in a harsh one, but one that a lot of Americans are thinking and one that should be left on. We can not hide things under the rug, this is obsurd. To delete it does not mean that people are not thinking it.

Absolutely not. The American government is still overwhelmingly run by white men. In fact, every Congressional election sees more men elected in that year than women elected ever. Minorities have it even worse with regard to representation.

The government also seems more corrupt because we have 24/7 news networks, we have blogs, and we have technology. Everything is reported somewhere now, and airtime needs to be filled. If anything, I'd venture that corruption in the federal government has gone down over the past fifty years.

In Africa, the situation is way too complex to answer here. Pick up a book or two devoted to the situations in even a few countries (Cote D'ivorie, Rwanda, etc) and you'll see how far back their problems go.

Well first of all, America is full of minorities. We are a country full of mutts. Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Irish, Italian, Jamaican, whatever. The conflicts that happen in our Government personally could show some hints from an ethnic past...but I'm sure thats not all it's about. I mean really..you aren't going to have a man straight of a plane from Africa planning on running for congress. Things like this take time. The people running//in governmental positions are most likely not first generation immigrants and have adopted to America's twisted culture. Obviously we are part of the reason! I'd love to be able to agree that if we just keep these people out things will be all chipper...but it's simply not true. I think that there have been issues (drugs, failing education systems, high divorce rates) that are already the downfall of our system. I'm not going to call you naive, I'm not going to say a random remark about how I believe that ridiculous southern families have been controlling our system for more than half of my generation...but I will say; It's up to us people! Vote!

You've got to be kidding. This country was built on the back of minorities. Our government is corrupt because of those in it. People getting killed for no reason at all. Have you taken a close look at how many have given their lives? The random shootings alone should freak your bigoted azz out!

Our country was based on the fact that all are welcome. See the poem on the Statue of Liberty:

http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0874962.html:

Unless you are an American Indian you are related to an immigrant.

The Republicans have made the term minority a dirty word. They have turned immigration problems into an overblown hot-button issue that they can roll out whenever they want to take our attention away from something else that is going on. (Like a newly discovered lie or corruption within this administration).

They think we are weak-minded and we cannot concentrate on more than one item at a time.

Immigrants and Minorities are not our problem, bigotry and hatred are. That and corrupt politicians that we keep re-electing because we don't pay attention to their actions or we are too lazy to vote!

~Absolutely. This country needs to go back to the good ole days when the good guys ran it. Guys like Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Dutch Schultz, Bugs Moran, Mickey Cohen and the boys.

They didn't waste time running for public office. They just used extortion, intimidation, and bribery to influence the elected officials of this country, not to mention their manipulation of police, prosecutors, judges, business owners, investment brokerages, labor unions, sports venues, entertainers and a whole bunch of other folks.

And they certainly didn't kill "for no reason." Just read your history and you'll find they always had a reason for killing, maiming, breaking legs, raping, butchering bodies, fire setting, garroting, etc.

If you are naive enough to think that our government isn't corrupt, perhaps you haven't read a newspaper (conservative or liberal) in a long, long, time. The corruption is worse than ever in this country. The new corporate organized crime just isn't as flashy as the old Mafia.

No, everyone is (part of ) a minority. I'm a hyphenated-American --- a vegetarian-American, and I was born here...

We don't need red meat to be red-blooded Americans. In fact, we don't need ANY meat (nor any animal products, either).

We're all minorities of SOME kind.

What's unclarified here is what the questioner MEANT by talking of "minorities" and "downfall". It's possible (and I believe it to be the case) that majorities CAN be socially constructed in ways that take the majorities behaviorally in undesirable directions.

What's crucial is behavior, not the ethnicity (or politics) of those who struggle to become more fully ethical human beings.

The downfall of the U.S. would be more likely to be caused by prejudiced and narrow-minded people than by minorities.

Yes, there is considerable corruption in some other countries. Much of that is the result of the past colonial history during which the colonial powers' main objective was to make themselves as rich as possible. They gave no thought to prepare and educate the colonies so that they'd be ready for self-government.

This is a very perceptive question obviously from a very bright person. I am just a minority of one and have no say in the matter as my voice does not count one iota. Is this not typical ! The question is should I ccontinue living just being a minority or not !
