These numbers are worth 20 percent of a persons grade
85, and 80
87 is worth 25 percent of the persons grade
and 88 is worth 25 percent of a persons grade.

What number grade does the person end up with?

I can't make heads and tails of these data. Sorry, I could answer this if only it's presented clearer than how it is presented now.

Maybe it could be approached this way:
= 0.2 + 0.2 + 0.25 + 0.25
= 0.9

Assuming that the grade range is between 0 and 100:
= (0.2[85 + 80] + 0.25[87] + 0.25[88])/0.9
= (0.2[165] + 21.75 + 22])/0.9
= (33 + 21.75 + 22)/0.9
= 76.75/0.9
= 85.28

Answer: he ends up with 85.28 number grade

.2(85+80) + .25(87+88) = 76.75 + .1(100) = 86.75
