I don't understand something, so maybe someone could help me out here. I live in a predominately African American area of the US. All the time on the news, you hear from the African American community that they don't have equal rights and they are looked down upon, etc. First....we have so many names of things and holidays and even a WHOLE MONTH dedicated to Black History and historical figures....where is the month dedicated to the rest of the history of the US? And why is it that when I go to EVERY Wal-Mart, Target, KMart, etc., around here looking at Christmas things that EVERY plastic Santa is black? There is a whole endcap of black baby dolls, and EVERY nativity scene is of a black Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus? Does the world not understand that Santa (which the "idea" of Santa stemmed from St. Nicholas who was from Asia Minor-meaning...he's not of African descent) and that Mary, Joseph and Jesus were not African...they weren't white either. He was born in Judea.)

It is called niche marketing because you live in Black community. Companies realized that maybe Black families don't want to have White Santa every year. However - you are not going to find Black Santa in the suburbs. And getting Black Santa is a new phenom.

Why does it matter? Don't ruin the holiday spirit with your insecurities. Who cares if plastic Santa is black or white? Get a tree, get together with your families, and make good memories.

sounds like the commercialization of CHRISTmas is going strong as ever.its not about what to buy or what color the Santa figure is. BIG business has gone and basically corrupted it.
