If you like fiction you should watch King Arthur ( with Clive Owen and Kiera Knightly) and Tristan and Isolde.

Well, while you're in the television you could check out HBO's Rome which is outstanding. Glad to see another Tudors fan.
Hope these help:
Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola; 2006)
An anachronistic reinterpretation of the tragic queen of France.
Russian Ark (Alexandr Sokurov; 2002)
With one single take, Sokurov revisits the tragic (re: cyclical) history of Russian politics and history.
Downfall (Oliver Hirschbiegel; 2004)
A terrifying, albeit introspective look depicting the final days of Adolf Hitler's (played to perfection by Bruno Ganz) deterioration.
Elizabeth I/The Queen (2006/2005)
Both helmed by the flawless Helen Mirren, these are perfect accounts of the difficulties of the English throne.
The New World (Terrence Malick; 2005)
Ultimately, the film is more of a meditation of man's--especially Europeans--inability to find a close affinity with the 'new world', but it does feature several scenes depicting English monarchs.
A Very Long Engagement (Jean-Pierre Jeunet; 2004)
A romantic epic about two lovers split apart by World War I. One of my favorite films.

The Madness of King George~King George III was in power during the American Revolution.
The Bruce (1996)~Robert the Bruce of Scotland
Queen Margot (1994)~France
Lady Jane (1985)~Lady Jane Grey ruled for nine days.~~not very recent but interesting, starring Helena Bonham Carter and Cary Elwes
Elizabeth I (2005 TV miniseries)~starring Helen Mirren
Eizabeth (1998)~starring Cate Blanchett
Young Catherine (1991 TV miniseries)~starring Julia Ormond
Catherine the Great (1995 TV movie)~starring Catherine Zeta-Jones
There are older films that are good to excellent:
Anne of the Thousand Days~Henry VIII (Richard Burton) and Anne Boleyn (Genevieve Bujold)
Marie Antoinette (1938)~starring Norma Shearer~~covers her from girlhood to execution and does try to be accurate, which the new film is not. The Kirsten Dunst film is flashy but extremely poor at showing history and is little more than a music video.
Marie Antoinette (1955)~starring Michele Morgan
Catherine the Great (1934)~starring Elisabeth Bergner as Russian empress
Elizabeth R (1971 TV miniseries)~Glenda Jackson as Elizabeth I~~This has been considered the epitome of portrayals, even surpassing Helen Mirren! As you can see, Jackson portrayed "Good Queen Bess" a number of times.
Young Bess (1953)~Jean Simmons as Elizabeth I
Mary, Queen of Scots (1972)~Mary of Scotland (Vanessa Redgrave) and Elizabeth I (Glenda Jackson)~~Actually, this contains a fictional meeting.
The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (1939)~Bette Davis as Elizabeth I
Virgin Queen (1955)~Bette Davis as Elizabeth I
Henry VIII & His Six Wives~Keith Michell as Henry VIII
The Private Life of Henry VIII~Charles Laughton as Henry VIII
Alfred the Great~David Hemmings as king of the southern Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex from 871 to 899
