Getting ready to move in to an apartment and everything is electric so I am assuming the furnace too. It just started to make a loud bang when it shuts off. What is wrong?

Also we've noticed that all of the rooms do not have the best amount of heat coming out of them. The registers are in the ceiling.

The apartment is owned by my job--I'm a Resident Manager of a storage company. I get to live where I work.

It is probably the duct work making the noise. When the blower turns on the square ducts tend to bulge out slightly from the air pressure. When the blower turns off the sheet metal will pop back into place and make a loud bang.

If the duct work is accessible it can be addressed easily by screwing some "L" shape pieces of sheet metal on the duct to help keep it stable.

If the furnace fan is running too slow, the attached supply air duct may be over heating causing to twist as it expands. The bang sound could be this duct contracting back to its original shape. This could also be why some areas are not getting warm. Have the unit checked out by an HVAC Tech.
First, check/change the filter(s) and if this doesn't solve the problem, then call the Tech.

The boom comes from the duct or furnace door. When it is running, these are swollen from extra air pressure. When it shuts off, it 'unswells' causing a bumb or bang. Its mainly in the installation of the equipment. Not very properly installed, which is common in apartments. So sorry. Hope it works out.

Besides the answers already given, the lower temperature control is maybe gone and it isn't slowing down until the temp changes, just slams shut. You should have two temps control one high and one low, check them out when it's running and when it stops.

call the adult males that put in it and tell them to do it maximum appropriate this time. It feels like an electric short. yet must be no longer something severe. In any even it feels like they crossed some wires upon setting up.

Find out what the noise is before you commit to the lease. You should be cautious and ask questions, a lot of them.
