lame???? my aren't we jaded?

I am in my own way, but not in that way.. maybe if the person who named a star after you, also named 10 other women the same star.. it might seem meaningless...
but the act of picking a star, and then naming it after someone if done sincerely, is a true act of love. To look up in the beautiful sky and somehow not feel alone when they aren't with you is nothing to take lightly. I don't have to pay for it, the stars are free for me.
the stars will be there forever, to lay on the grass and see the wonders of the stars for me, it's like god made them just for me..when I pick one as my fave, it's mine.. and mine alone... it's my choice to name a star after someone, they don't even have to know.

It's not lame at all. The money that people pay for that name helps finance these observatories.

The astronomers get some money from the government, but a little more never hurts. As for the stars themselves, they are very useful in navigation.
The people who think it's dumb are probably those who do not have their four year degree yet.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion...........with that opinion in your mind,..no one can say you are stupid, corny, meaningless or whatever names they want to call this action..it is your idea, so if its okay with you then do it..if its lame then dont do it..........all in the matter of sharing anyway..what ever happens if we give our ideas anyway, in the end it is all about you and you decide on what to do...so, lame or not...I guess it is all in the matter of perceiving things...but "star" represents a strong personality and deserves to be put in the pedestal..........

Well my brothers best friend loved astronomy. He was killed in a car crash a year ago. we all named a star after him and gave the certificate to his mom and dad. they cried and loved it, esp knowing how much jay loved stars. Sweet yes, lame..no!

I think it's ridiculous. Someone is basicly paying an outrageous amount of money for a piece of paper saying they have a star named after them. La Tee Da, So What? And what the heck purpose does it serve? Yeah, I agree, it's TOTALLY lame.
