Sure there are a lot of reasons everyone has pointed out funerals, weddings, parties, but there is also work (I wear black suit often) a special night out to dinner with your significant other, a banquet, when you do to the symphony or the theater, on a cruise when they have formal dinner, when you want to dress up and feel good about yourself. Black can be worn for any number of occasions.
