I usually drive 1:00 and 6:00 when relaxed. I go more to a 10:00 and 2:00 during rush hour or when I'm nervous.

The official way use to be 10 and 2.
The official way is now 8 and 4.
I have the left hand at 10 and the right hand on the stick shift.
I don't drive an automatic.

I don't think there is a "right" or correct way.
12 - 3, 9-3, 10-2 all work.
I myself switch one hand: the 10 and the 4.
I am driving a stick so 2 hands is impossible.:)

Same here, right arm is 1:00, left on the sill.
Unless the roads are really bad (poor maintanence or weather), then it's two hands for ultimate stability.

depends on the situation for me.
when im:
-comfortable, i know nothing will go wrong- i grab the wheel with my left index and thumb and drive.
-nervous- two hands, 3 and 9.
-bored as hell- thumb at the 7
in case you're wondering where my right arm is usually, it's either waiting to grab the wheel, protecting my crotch in case somebody feels like taking a cheap shot, or just resting in my lap.

I used to use the 'ol "10 & 2" method, but with airbags in most cars these days I've switched to the new "9 & 3" style to keep from punching myself in the face in an accident...
