What does the bereau vocational rehabilitation do
for young adults with learning disabilities now days?
When I went through BVR in 1979 all I got was
discouragement,They discouraged me from trying
to obtain a GED and said I will never be able to go
to college.School was always difficult for me.
My own parents told me I should never go to school again ever,Was that right? After all the
discouragement I went through after being kicked
out of community college after I told them I had LD.
I just said no more,I feel I do not belong going to
school. It was miracle I passed the GED when I
was 29(1989).There was no help in my time.

What are you fishing for - you keep asking people for opinions on your education. COme out with it and let us know why and maybe we can help = or are you having a public fish for sympathy and tea

I'm not sure what they do now a days but with the no child left behind they have to by law educate a child and not discourage it from an education. I know how you feel about your experience in school I too was ld and was discouraged by others telling me it was to hard for me but I didn't let them stop me for a while. I think It made me want to do it just to spite them and say "see I did it anyway so there!", but after yrs it wore me down and I stopped caring. I applaud you for trying to better yourself and the only failure there is is if we never tried at all. I'm sure your parents wanted the best for you but I'm sure it hurt them to see you disappointed or hurt by the educational system and didn't want you to go threw the pain any longer but you have to do whats right for you and to better yourself is never wrong in my eyes. Keep fighting for you and your betterment.

I never herd of bvr but i was ld in high school and my teachers always encouraged me to succeed in class. and even said i should go to college. I did graduate high school even made all A's the last six weeks i was in school never had i done this before. but this was in the late 90's. sounds like when you were in school they were less knowledgeable about people with learning disorders. You might want to try college again see if they have programs that can help you with your disability.
