I know someone named Kara, and I was wondering what people on Y answers thinks of it... I've never heard it before.

I don't like when people spell it Cara. To me that just looked wrong!
My best friend from school with Kara and my brother married a Kari. So that was pretty confusing for a while!
I had never ever met anyone else with that name until about 5 years after I left school!

I have a 23 year old daughter named Kara. Her middle name is Marie (after me). My cousin, who was living in Belgium at the time, sent me that name. Growing up she was the only one who spelled it Kara, others spelled in Cara, or Carah.

I like it, although I've always preferred the C spelling...Cara.
I'm surprised you've never heard of it. I didn't think it was that uncommon.
