If I were to give one of my friends my savings account # to deposit money he owes me what is the risk? I am going to transfer the money to my checking right away and my savings only has around 5 dollars, so what can happen?

He can make deposits into your account.

So, why take any risk? Have him send you a check (or money order if he doesn't have an account) and you can deposit it yourself?

as far as I know the most he can do is deposit the money.
1) you dont have much money in it
2) in order for him to do much of anything with your account he not only needs the account number but the routing number to the bank

proceed with caution before you give your account number to anyone.

Odds are he can do nothing other than deposit into it.

Unless of course he has an insider to help him.
