if your answer is an ester, then could you please tell me what an ester is

Technically an ester is an organic acid coupled to an alcohol with loss of water. The resulting structure can be described with the general structure RC(O)O-R' where the (O) is a carbonyl oxygen and R, R' are various hydrocarbon groups.

An ester is an organic compound, basically a carboxillic acid attched to an inorganic compund. An example of a fruity smelling ester is Isopropyl acetate.
