What's wrong with saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays? It's getting very ridiculous because the holiday's are based on the birth of Jesus Christ our saviour. It's becoming very stupid because there's no commerials or anything drawing the costumers into the stores. Now, it's like a ghost town everywhere you go. What happen to the spirit of the Lord. Just because a set of people don't believe in God doesn't mean that it should be spoiled for the rest. In essence, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It's not ABOUT stapling a religious label on things. It's about the spirit of the Lord, NOT about a giant Fat Man in a red suit.

I've never met anyone who had a problem with "Happy Holidays", since it doesn't exactly have a specific religious connotation.

I mean, Christmas is not the only holiday that coincides with this time of year. There are plenty of people out there who celebrate other holidays, such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

And it's not that people are trying to disrespect the idea of Christmas and Jesus. It's just polite to remember that not everyone celebrates Christmas, myself one of them.

I'm certainly not offended when someone wishes me a "Merry Christmas", but I can't speak for everyone out there.

And the last thing advertisers want to do is offend a bunch of would-be customers by affiliating themselves with a religion by merely saying "Merry Christmas!" or "Happy Hanukkah!" in an ad.

So try not to let it dampen your holiday spirit. It's still a fun, festive time of year for people of all religions.

Happy Holidays!

how is having no commercialism attached to Christmas wrong ?how is drawing customers into a store connected to God in any way?
for the most part it's not that people don't believe in god, they just don't believe in your God, so why do you feel the need to force you religion on others. because your's is the one true god? I'll bet they tell you the same thing.
here is the spirit of the lord:
judge not least ye be judge
let he who is without sin cast the first stone
Happy Hanukkah! (4-12)
Happy Kwanzaa! ( 26-Jan 1)
Happy Pearl Harbor Day (7)
and Happy Holiday!

I was a child in New York and grew up in the 70's. At that time, my father, a good Catholic, told me to always say "Happy Holidays" (over 30 years ago! Well before the "War on Christmas"!), not because he was a liberal, he certainly was not. But because it was POLITE. It is RUDE to assume that every other person you meet shares your beliefs. Saying "Happy Holidays" is a polite way to express the feelings of the season to people who may have different beliefs. It is not an assault on your beliefs, but common courtesy for others who don't believe as you do.

I'm not sure I understood you...you're complaining because of a lack of commercials? A lack of shoppers? A lack of consumer frenzy based on Christ?

What town do you live in, because I want to move there immediately.

How does it feel to have stolen the pagan holiday of Winter Solstice and appropriated for your own religion? It doesn't have any biblical support and all indications are that Jesus was born in early spring, not winter.

Well, it's like everything else in life, isn't it??

Basically, those trying to "please everyone", especially, trying to be 'politically correct' will live life so boringly as to drive all custom away.
No one will be inspired to buy or be part of the mere so-called "holiday season" and therefore ALL will lose out, as in so many other things that have been watered down today!!

WHO WANTS TO CONSTANTLY DRINK WATERED DOWN JUICE OR 90% WATER IN LIFE??!!
We all need sustenance as well as liquid.

Merry Christmas to you too.
It is the dam liberals and hippy's their politicaly correcrt jargon is slowly destroying the American way of life. I dont think I can remember last politician who could actually stand by his beliefs. They are frieghtened rabbits running for their burrows every time someone asks them a question. I fear for our country when I see such weak leaders in such places of power.

Celebrate it the way you want to and ignore the grumps and others who don't find the same meaning you do. Especially the "pegans." :-)
