It's not really about better.. they are just different.. you need to choose the one which is right for you and how you use a computer..

Mac is a closed system.. you have very limited ability to upgrade or customize it.. With a PC you have a great deal of flexibility.. you can expand and enhance your computer to your hearts desire.. Most people never open their computers up anyway so this might not make any difference to you..

If you like playing games the PC supports many more games than the Mac does.. on the other hand there are some multimedia editing programs available on the Mac which aren't on the PC..

Macs tend to cost a bit more too for a computer with similar specs..

You are going to be best off figuring out what software you want to run and then checking to see what computers that runs on.. also check to see what your friends have because if you need help with something you want them to be able to help you..

Good luck..

Macs are for people who lack the ability to operate a PC :) Seriously though, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to game or use alot of productivity apps, then the PC is better, if you want to do graphic design or artsy stuff then the Mac seems to be the better choice. With that said, be prepared to pay a premium for the mac. As mentioned above it's usually harder and pricier to upgrade a mac as the hardware selection is far more limited. I've been a PC user since 1984, I did try a mac circa 1992 and I was less than impressed. But they have come a long way since then.
