i was thinking, in at least 5 years time, of relocating to greece. Can anyone shed any light on what careers are popluar there besides tourism?

The most popular carriers in Greece (regardless of what you may have heard) are:
Contractor and Hypercontractor. You know what a contractor is, right? Well a Hypercontractor is someone that takes on a project, the hires contractors to do it! Of course there are Hyper-hypercontractor but they are 10-12 in the whole country.
Reporters. Reporters in Greece do and know everything. They have replaced the Legal System, the police and the entire social security sector.
Koraki or Crow in English. A "crow" is basically everyone that live off others people's legal or economic misfortunes. You can find them in Auction houses, police stations or courts. They trade anything to anyone for any price. You mess with them you're dead (sometimes literally)
Well I can keep on and on (priests, public servants, union dogs, NHS and IKA staff etcetc) but you get the drift!

Almost everyone dreams of becoming a civil servant and do nothing for the rest of their lives.
But seriously, practically all aspects of teh economy that exist in all other western world countries are the same in Greece too. Engineers, lawyers, architects, doctors, economists, etc. etc. And of course, FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS. We all learn at least 1-2 foreign languages, so if english is your mother tongue, you can become a teacher.
