We are buying a new home. The contractor says he can buy and install our 2 garage door openers for $350 each. Is that reasonable? They only cost $150 each at Sears to purchase, all wiring is set up, the door is on, etc.

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:
So here's the deal with garage door openers...we get tons of questions regarding this at our business each week. Yes, it is true that you can buy openers anytime of year from Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. for about $150 depending on the size and model you choose. What most homeowners don't understand is that the models you can purchase at the bulk stores are not the same models you will purchase from a professional garage door dealer. Here it is in a nutshell:
1) Openers sold by the big stores are usually made by the same parent company that makes the models available at your local garage door dealer
2) The "big store" models are much cheaper - for a reason.
3) A couple quick examples - big store models have rails that must be assembled and are inherently weaker than professional models which have solid one-piece rails; big store models often have plastic parts in some areas where professional models have steel/metal; chain driven models (in particular) usually have a combination of chain and cable instead of full-length chain
4) You can install the big store models yourself, which have a factory warranty, but a professionally installed model usually comes with a standard installer's warranty as well - which covers the labor to fix any problems from installation.
We always inform our customers of the differences and let them make an informed decision. You will pay more for a professionally installed model but it is an altogether different unit backed by better warranties. One word of caution, unless the "contractor" you spoke of is a professional door dealer then he is probably going to be purchasing one of the cheaper "big store" models but selling it to you at the professional grade price! For a professionally installed and professional grade unit, $350 is about right.

It's reasonable, but there are options. A garage door opener is anywhere from $75 and up for a single door and $120+ for the double.... Installation price depends on who does it. I think Sears and/or HD charges around $250+, but you have to buy the GDO from them... @_@ I'd say do it yourself. The contractor is out to make more money, guaranteed. My bro-in-law is a contractor and he definitely makes extra $$ off of stuff exactly like this... Other contractors may tell you that the price he quoted you is cheap (those guys make 'good money' for a reason, plus they need to stick together), and it may very well be- but his hourly rate is obviously about $200 an hour (because doing an install like that will probably take him about an hour or 1.5hrs, max). If he's planning to just roll the price into your final price on the house, that GDO could end up costing you like THOUSANDS after interest & such are paid on it... no big deal when you're rolling it in, but if you have to pay on a GDO for 30yrs, it might not be a good idea... I don't know your situation so I really couldn't say, but it might be something to consider.
I'd go w/ buying it yourself @Home Depot or Sears or whatever and if you know ANYONE that is even slightly handy, ask them to hook it up for you (pay them) or do a little research & maybe you can learn how to do it on your own. Or better yet- go for the gold and just ask Sears to install it. ^_^ I know if I was in the same boat (and didn't have ol' mr.fix-it-brother-in-law in our face all the time! >_< haha) I would definitely go w/ Sears or Home Depot on that install. When I built my home I just went to Lowe's and bought them myself, and then had Lowe's install them for me, since I was too busy. But I remember the cost being around $300, so I think that $350 is a pretty reasonable price, but the cost can also differ on what brand of opener you choose.

Call anyone of several places Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, they all both sell and install these things.
