The President is part of the Executive branch.
As you might already know, there are three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
Congress (the House of Representatives and Senate) make up the legislative branch. They make the laws.
The courts make up the Judicial branch. They interpret and make rulings on the laws.
The President is in the Executive branch. This includes executive responsibilities, like directing government departments and agencies, commanding the five military branches, and ratifying/vetoing laws created by congress.
