Here here! I don't think that anyone should be a lifetime politician, much less get a hefty retirement for being an elected official for a term or two. This is for the purpose of serving the people! Not people serving the politician. It is time to turn our elected officials back into representatives of the public, not officials who pursue their own interest.

Legislation is a job.
Why would you want someone working on the laws that govern your country to be a perpetual neophyte?
Wouldn't it be more sensible to ask them to have a job before they run? So they would have some real world experience.
Really though, most everyone works in High school or college or interns. Experience is good if you have good people, if you have thieves, they can steal a lot in four years.
Yes, the point is that when someone is reelected that's the peoples way of saying they like that persons style of government, even if you don't. We have a representative government, if you don't like it don't elect it.
No need for term limits.

They should be allowed 8 years just as the President.

No need to have people like Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd serve as long as they have.

What and leave the lobbyists in charge? or worse yet, the staffers? these people are totally anonymous, invisible, and unaccountable.

Politicians may be really rotten, but they are accountable. And a few (maybe 1 or2) still understand the art of legislation.

Yes.

We don't need to add or alter term limits.

Just stop voting for them. Seriously, it's that simple.
