Of course!
People get divorced for MANY reasons - not JUST for "not loving each other" anymore ;);););)

Im not very sure what you are trying to ask but I think I can read between the lines to what you are asking, I think you are trying ask why a man can be so bitter & angry after the financial settlement? If this is the question then my answer is sure men can get very bitter & nasty after a divorce especially when money is a key factor, but it takes a real man to move on & get over it.

He could still be in love with his first wife and married you because you were there, convenient and still love you but not like he did his first wife.
Family interference plays a major roll in many divorces. I have that but, I also have a husband who listens, can get upset with me or without yet, we still understand where one or the other is coming from.

You have a valid concern. Each relationship is built over time with many experiences and growth together. It will take time and energy to undo all the memories and effort of the old relationship. On some it is hard and take longer to get over.
If you care about the person, appreciate the quality, acknowledge his pain and comfort him through this journey. If he is a quality person, he will for sure appreciate your help.

he is still in love with her,you say in your question that they only got divorced because of the mother in law.
why do you write "love" like its a joke or foreign to you? because he isnt giving love to you. youre the booty call or the person who "will do" til he finds something better. its really disrespectful of him to be having you round when youre getting feelings for him and they arent going to get returned to you. (unless she doesnt take him back)
it would be better for you to stay away from him. obviously he likes her and you dont want to be the consolation prize.

If he was that much in love with her, no interference from mother or mother-in-law would have made the divorce possible.

If you think he's still in love with his ex, ask him. Tell him what you see and discuss it.
