We are flying to Las Vegas the second week in Januwary and are planning to drive down to San Diago to Sea World and back. We have about two weeks...anyone know anything else we should check out or go see in either place or along the way. We've already done Disneyland and Universal Studious

Primm, NV: Huge outlet mall and casinos, off the strip so it's better for tourists. Right at NV/CA line. Alternate choice without casino: south of Barstow, CA - first exit past the new CA-58 interchange.

Baker, CA: World's largest thermometer. 80 miles south of Las Vegas. No need to exit the freeway, just see it on the way.

San Diego: Visit the San Diego Zoo (Balboa Park, downtown via I-5 or CA-163), and then the Wild Animal Park east of Escondido (I-15 north, follow signs 8 miles). The Wild Animal park has a monorail around it that's worth the entrance price.

If you like authentic Mexican food, make sure to dine in San Diego. There are many family-owned authentic Mexican restaurants that all compete for your business by making some seriously mouthwatering dinners. In Old Town, there's many - some even serve tortillas on the street to customers in several different flavors.

You could stop and see the world's largest thermometer (you can see it from the highway...I think it's in Barstow or Bakersfield?)....

Stop in Primm and gamble.

Stop in Ontario, CA and visit the Mills mall (it's big and cheap)

Stop in Corona at Glen Ivy Spa and Hot Springs (it's outdoor...so be prepared if it's cold). www.glenivy.com

Go to Pechanga and gamble (I really like gambling...)

local.yahoo.com may help a little.

The drive is generally long and boring, especially if you hit traffic. I end up sleeping since I don't drive LOL
