Tell me any college head coaches that had no NFL experience that were successful and stayed the entire term and not return to the college ranks. Jimmy Johnson is the only one that comes to mind in the last 15-20 years. Petrino had no clue what he was getting into like anyone taking a new job and he found out he was over his haed and not happy and cut ties instead of suffering and making the team drag out and suffer as well, seriously are you telling me him leaving the way he did was all that bad and that no one in the normal work world doesnt get a job and thinking there is green fields on the other side and when they get there they are like get me out of here and return where they came from. Its a drag because its going to be another year of transition and bringing in this caches players, but you are the only team right now looking for a coach you can snatch up the top ones that are available like a Bill Cowher, Falcon fans you are going to get Cowher and you are actually getting a proven warrior who has proven his loyalty and endurance through tough times and not going to bail on them. You will have a shot at McFadden and a great coach and all kinds of other big options due to this supposed bad thing, you are going to have another bad year, but you are going to come out looking good in the long road and Petrino will struggle 2-3 years in Arkansas as Houston Nutt left for Ole Miss and he left the cabnets empty since McFadden is leaving and thats all they really had. He will be back on top in due time, but nothing great as he is in te SEC and will get beat up and he will move on to another, but the Falcons will be looking good with Cowher still and winning ball games and stable and he wont be.

I never understood the hire in the first place. The end zone stunt with the Mike Vick T-shirt summed it all up...Petrino had lost control of the team and he was never going to get it back. There were reports of rebellion in the locker room and many players would not listen to Petrino. He will do a great job at Arkansas, though.

By Vick landing in prison,Petrino got stuck with a team with very little talent and no quarterback, and eventually the fans would have blamed him for the losses,it's tough to compete in the NFL as it is,it's suicide when a team has no leader and very little talent

It;s all about the money not loyalty to teams, schools, or players when the schools buckle down and start cutting salaries coaches will get back into line

Would you want to coach a team that just gets worse and worse every year?
