If a husband and a wife both love their own and each others families equally (and they live very far apart), and they want to live with ONE so they can at least be near some family, do you think it would be better to live with the wife/mother's family or the husband's family?? I know this is a hard question...but without any complications (and knowing we want to have kids), what do you think?

Who's going to be the better grandparents that are going to be more of a part of your kid's lives? Who can take care of them when they get sick and you need help with babysitting? That's how I would make my decision.

I would choose an equal medium if its at all possible by living in the middle somewhere, and just visit both families as much as you could as well as allowing them to visit whenever they want to spend time with you guys. Other then that I dont see how you can make the situation a little less complicated. Its just one of those things you have to discuss with each other, and come to a compromise. You can always make a list of positives, and negatives of each side of the family, and choose which is best by who has the most positives out of the two. Like say which side of the family is more family oriented since you want to involve kids, etc. hope this helps.

It sounds like you have an embarrassment of riches - too much loving family almost ;-) hahahha

You two need to work this out between you. As you do, you might consider the following: the location your jobs or career plans, any health concerns or financial troubles one branch of the family might have over another or the retirement status, amount of social network in the area...many, many factors.

You two need to work this out between you. You both need to agree thoroughly to whatever plan you come up with.

Good luck.

That is something you and your other half need to sit down and talk about with each other. No one else could make that decision, but the two of you.

Stay independent from both families, and let them come and visit you and your family.
