In each case, f(x) is one of two different functions w/o absolute value signs, on different intervals. Those functions are all nice, simple linear functions that you can easily differentiate. The only catch is that in Problem 1 there's a single point where the derivative doesn't exist, namely the point where the absolute value equals 0.
