My mom was at her work and herd an explosion in the office, she said it almost sounded like a gunshot. They went into the kitchen and found two 2L bottles of soda on the floor, one bottle exploded and the bottom part of the bottle was jagged and 2/3 of the bottle looked melted as if it had been lit on fire; the other bottle had exploded just below the neck of the bottle.
The reminants of the soda smelt like spoiled grapefruit juice (very acidic). Nobody was in the room, and it seems that it was a case of SBC (Spontaneous Bottle Combustion). Can anybody explain this?????

This is a stupid and dangerous prank. It involves the use of toilet bowl cleaner (The Works brand) and people are doing it more and more. I can't believe someone did it inside! They evidently ran away as soon as the bottle exploded and before anyone could see them. I hope your mom's boss finds out who the culprit is and he/she is reprimanded. Very, very dangerous.

Maybe invisible aliens came down from the mothership and caused the bottles to explode.

It occurs... yet no longer alot of mentioned circumstances. so some distance as your spouse arising thrice.... time to furnish her a spanking and coach her to ask the only time for the three desires. That'll look after issues good speedy.

no....i can't explain it,but.......years ago we used to freeze cokes & put them in the sun and they would explode.....it sounds like your bottle was some sort of chemical reaction
