The best tip I have ever heard:
"The beauty of TicketMaster is that they have hundreds of locations across the country, and all of them can sell tickets to any event in the system. That means, for example, that you can call TicketMaster in California and buy a ticket to a concert in Florida. Most people don't know this, so they tend to call their local TicketMaster to buy tickets. So as soon as tickets go on sale, dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of people suddenly try to call their local TicketMaster to buy tickets, creating lots of busy signals! But almost NOBODY calls other TicketMaster offices, so it's possible to get through to these other offices with virtually no busy signals. The best bet is to call a TicketMaster office in another state - as far away as possible - BUT in your same time zone. For example, Massachusetts and South Carolina are in the same time zone (Eastern). But the odds of someone from South Carolina being interested in a concert in Boston are very slim. So when tickets to a Boston concert go on sale, a call to a South Carolina TicketMaster office will be MUCH more productive than a call to a Boston-area TicketMaster."
You may want to get a seating chart of the venue online so when you call, you can see where you seats will be. This will probably work better than online. Although, online is also a good way. Or to take part in exclusive early sales online. Most bands (ie, Ozzy Osbourne, Korn) give their fans access to get Ticketmaster tickets early, or even local radio stations. Good luck!

I don't think there's any tips really except that if you don't like the seats that are chosen for you the first time around, you can always click back to the last page, then return to the seating page. Usually the site will have already picked different seats, if available. You can keep doing this until you find where you want to sit. The only drawback though, is you miss out on the other seats if you change your mind.
