looking at black n decker, dewalt, and bosch 1/2in size - 12V - cordless - $100-$150 range.
any other brands to consider... want one that is durable and will last......

need help!!!!!!

Surprisingly Consumer Reports rated the Ryobi One+ 18v Impact Driver as the Best Buy, although I would first find out if your brother in law has an existing battery power tool set. The reason being, so you can purchase the impact driver of that set. For instance, if he uses an 18 volt Dewalt drill set, then it would make sense to get the impact driver that accepts the same battery.

If it will be used a lot and you want it to last, go with the Dewalt. Second choice, Craftsman. If only for occaisional use then B&D is a good value but not so rugged.

DeWalt is one of the best and i would reccomend it 'cause i use every single day 8 full hours. assembly and fixing machinery. Warranty is one full year parts/svc/maintenace. Battery is XRP 12 life cycle 1200 times (almost 3 years)
