Take the number of pizzas that you started with and subtract the amount that is left to get how much was eaten.
Take the amount that was eaten and divide it by ten to get the amount that each person ate.
Hint: The amount that each person ate doesn't come out to an even number of slices. That's why it says "about" how much did each person eat.
If you tell me the answer you got, I'll tell you whether that's what I got but I won't give you the answer.

Ok, lets see. If we imagine that each pizza was cut into 8 slices and you had 5 pizzas then we had 5 x 8 = 40 slices. Now if you had 1 3/8 pizzas left that means you had a total of 8+3 = 11 slices left. So the 10 people ate 40 - 11 = 29 slices of pizza. So, each person ate 29/10=2.9 slices of pizza.

5 pizzas subtract 1 3/8 which was left to get how much was eaten which is 3 5/8. And then 3 5/8 divided by 10 to get how much each person ate which is 0.3375 which rounded is 0.3 of the pizza. I think that would be how you do that.

5 - 1 3/8= 3 5/8
3 5/8 = 3.625
3.63 divided by 10 = .36
Each person ate about a 1/3 of a pizza.

5 pizzas
10 people
1 3/8 pizzas=11/8 left
put the 5 into a form that when divided by 8 =5 5*8=40
Subtract 40/8-11/8=29/8 10 people ate 29 pieces of pizza
or 2.9 or around 3 pieces of pizza each

well, first you should subtract 3/8 from 5. that should give you 4 5/8. So, you ate 4 and 5/8 of the pizzas. Next, you would divide that by 10. (I suggest turning it into a decimal). That would be the answer for about how much each person ate.

Let's say there are 8 slices in each pizza. Then 5 pizzas is 40 slices of pizza because 8*5 = 40.
Now if 3/8 of a pizza is left, and one pizza is 8 slices, then 3 slices of pizza are left. Each eighth is one slice, and you can think of 1/8 just like you think of a slice -- as a small thing that comprises part of a bigger thing, along with 7 other similarly sized things. Thus, 3/8 (read as "three eighths" just like "three slices") are left.
If 3 slices of 40 slices are left, then you ate 37 slices, in all. Since there are 10 of you, you ate 3.7 slices each, since 37/10 = 3.7

First draw a picture- draw 5 circles and divide them into 8ths
then color in one whole circle and 3 pieces of another
count the left over remaining white pieces( you should get 24)
Now you divide 24 by 10 since there are 24 pieces that you know were eaten and there are 10 people tht 8 them.
you should get 2.4 , so each person ate 2.4 pieces of pizza
