That definitely would be my spouse, he is my better half and we are now one... together as a couple which makes him important to me. It's not that I don't love or care for them but parents because I do... but they have each other and that is just part of being married, your spouse should be the #1 important person your life

Spouse. Your parents are the most important persons in their lives.

If you have a spouse, the spouse is the most important person.

Therefore a man shall leave his parents and cleave to his spouse (It's in Genesis 1 or 2... I cant' recall).

Basically, my wife would come before my parents. If it's any other way, then the man is not head of his house, but allowing his house to be run by another. This is a place where relationships turn sour.

As a wife I would like to say me. But if your parents and spouse really love you, they shouldn't make you have to decide. All in all, I think your parents should be more important. You only have one mom and one dad. You dont know if this relationship will even last your lifetime.

why do we always have to choose? = (
can't they all be at the same level?
my parents, my friends, my spouse and all of the people that are important and close to me, in my life, are as equally important. they all mean something to me, and all fit different roles in my life that help make me complete. because losing anyone that is close to me would be just as much a tragedy.. (well, of course I'd be even more sad if i lost someone like my mom or husband...but... u know what i mean)

your spouse is the most important in my opinion. in fact if you don't treat your spouse as most important your partnership/marriage is doomed. i'm not saying to treat your parents badly exactly the opposite. but your spouse should be number 1.

Since my spouse is almost an ex and my parents are not all they should be in terms of support-- I have to go with one not listed: my kids.

I say you have to be there for both but if I have to choose-if your spouse is good and there for you, then you be there for a spouse first-I am for my spouse first:)
