Mike Huckabee presents the typical schizoid approach to morality that all Christian cons display. If they were honestly concerned about young unmarried women being impregnated then they would all promote birth control and sex education, instead of the total opposite. If they really cared about the babies of women who can't afford food or health care, then they should be insisting that pregnant women receive even more assistance and protest the cuts to the WIC program that the GOP is planning to gut, but they do just the opposite. If Mike Huckabee cares about the children of poor women, he should be campaigning for cheaper, safer, easier to use forms of birth control, and more generous forms of assistance after the baby is born. FAT CHANCE

He's a bible thumper and a hack politician to boot:
"In June, Huckabee issued a call to arms to religious conservatives, urging them to vote on the very social issues that are undermining the wall between church and state.
- Also in June 2007, Huckabee said that "most of our prisoners would love to be in a facility more like Guantanamo ..."
- In May 2007, Huckabee went on record as not believing in evolution.
- In October 2006, Huckabee joked that he lost weight because Democrats put him in a concentration camp.
- In 1998, Huckabee called on the religious right to "take this nation back for Christ."
In January 2007, as Huckabee was preparing his presidential bid, the Washington Post reported on his radical views. Among the interesting points in the article:
[Huckabee] also publicly supported creationism, a philosophy advocated by fervent Christians, arguing that students should be exposed to the study of the doctrine as well as evolution.
During the political campaign, Huckabee could prove a poster boy for political corruption. He made news before leaving the Arkansas Governor's Mansion, when he set up gift registries on several websites, allowing lobbyists and others seeking to curry influence to know exactly which gifts to purchase for he and his wife. As we've blogged in past posts about Huckabee, this quote from a retired Arkansas government official says it all about the former Governor and potential Republican nominee:
“He’s using the trappings of the governor’s office to get everything he can, and the sad part of it is, I honestly believe he does not see anything wrong with this,” said Kerns, a retired lawyer for the Department of Veterans Affairs. “It’s like ‘ethics’ is a foreign word to him.”
Let's hope he never has the opportuntiy to "use the trappings" of the White House to do the same".
As far as "Liberals running scared" LOL -- Personally I would love for Mike Huckabee to get the Republican nomination -- current polls have him losing in double digits to any of the major democratic contenders. he could lose by as much as 20% under the scrutiny of a national campaign!

I think Huckabee has the liberals running scared, and that is very good. Yes, he is right on about abortion. Thanks for giving me some more reasons to vote for him. The fact that he is standing tall for those 30 million people Hillary had slain in the womb makes him a great man, indeed. I figure if he sticks up for the unborn who cant vote, then he will stick up for me, too, because it isnt just about the vote.

What about all that semen that goes to waste? and the ovums, shouldn't we save all of them and fertilize them in a dish and make someone carry them? I mean there is a lot of lives being lost here. Are we under populated?
We do not have enough people to fill all the jobs?
then bring all the young men home from Iraq, if the need is so critical. Oh that's right it is okay to kill a born person just not an unborn person.

As much as I dissagree with the whole gop platform I will say this for Huckabee. He is real, he practices what he believes unlike Bush who pretends to be a christian to appeal to the right. At least with Huckabee I dont doubt his sincerity although I feel he is sincerly wrong

I dont have a problem with his anti abortion stance. Or even his bible thumping. what I have a problem with his absolute refusal to run on the issues but instead focus on attacking other candidates religion as if thats all that mattered in a race.

It is much better for the real America to have a BIBLE- THUMPER, a real American for America, than a closet MUSLIM, who refuses to honor or salute the American flag. The leaders and clerics of Iran would celebrate if Hussein Obama should win.

I have noted that politicians tend to say what they think the people they are talking to want to hear. Look at the statements of some of them and who they are speaking to if you think I am wrong.

Just the kind of guy the religious right adores, dress him suite or armor and lets march back to the days of the inquistion and put to death those who dare think or challenge authority.
