I have an Explorer that shuts off while I am driving sometimes. When this happens, the electric stays on but the engine is off. I have to try to pull over, put the car in park and start it again. It starts back up with no problem. I just put a new battery in it last month. This happened three random times and I'm scared because I drive on the express way everyday to work. Any idea what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks

Without looking and diagnosising the truck in person, all I can give you is my suggestion from 22 yrs experience- check the fuel pump and eec relays, they are usually mounted in a box on the passenger side engine compartment. They tend to over heat and the electical contacts inside can create all sorts of intermittant problems. A simple quick check is to take a screwdriver hanle and lightly tap on them, if they are bad enough, the tuck will die-out, if so, replace the relay- good luck

Year, Engine & Mileage? Get a "Full Diagnostic Read Out (With History)" Could be a Loose Connection at ECM, Ignition Block/Module or Coil.

NOTE; One of the Above things in the Ignition System! Yeah only Effects the Engine.

could be a bit of dirt in the carburetor,a faulty petrol pump or a loose pipe.mine does this sometimes but as it is manual ,if I am still rolling I just stick it in gear and it starts again.
