My folks are in the middle of buying a flat-screen TV...I think to myself "Why don't I feel like buying one along with them? Because I don't need this to be happy!" I don't think buying stuff is the real means to happiness. An xbox is a $400 machine...videogames are FUN and all but you're getting them at a hefty price, and it's like a poor time-sucking substitute for real life.
But here's an exception: I want a guitar. Am I hypocritical? It's as if happiness isn't synonymous with purchasing, and yet life requires plenty of buying!
