you can write y=-3x/2+b immediately
substitute (2,1)
2=-3x/2+b
b=7/2
y=-3x/2+7/2

The equation in slope-intercept form is
y - 1 = (-3/2)(x - 2)
y - 1 = -3x/2 + 3
y = -3x/2 + 4

Your big text book will give you the equation y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the intercept. Plug in your coordinates (x, y) = (2, 1) and m = -3/2 and then solve for b. So now that you know b, you know what the equation is.
It will look like y={a number}x + {a number}.
Good luck and read your book

you may want to check this in a graphing calculator since I did this in my head....
y=mx+b
plug in the slope for m and the x and y coordinates for x and y
so 1= -3/2*(2) + b
1=(-3)+b
1+3=b =4
y=-3/2(x)+4

use point slope y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 1 = -3/2(x - 2) plug into point slope formula
y - 1 = -3/2x + 3 distribute -3/2
y = -3/2x + 4 add 1 to both sides

y-y=slope(x-x)
y-1= -3/2(x-2)
y-2= -3/2x+3
+2 +2
y= -3/2x+5

y= -3/2+4
you find the starting point which if you go to (2,1) then go two over to the y axis to the left and up three you end up at 4.
f(x)=mx+b
b= 4
m= -3/2
f(x)=-3/2+4
4 is the y-intercept.

First, use this form...
(y - y1)=m(x-x1)
and manipulate it into y=mx + a form
(y-1)=(-3/2)(x-2)
y-1=(-3x)/2 +3
y=(-3x)/2 +3 + 1
y=(-3x)/2 + 4
