My computer has got a very nasty worm. I've decided that I want to COMPLETELY wipe the hard drive clean and replace Windows with Ubuntu. How do I get EVERYTHING off the hard drive so that I can start over again with Ubuntu.

You will need to format the hard drive. You can do this by booting from your Windows CD. Let it start the Windows install. Right after you do the F8 to agree to the license, it will ask if you want to partition and format the drive. Once the format is done, simple turn off the computer (rather then let it finish the Windows install). Then reboot with a Ubuntu install CD in the drive and let it install Ubuntu.

Just pop in the Ubuntu CD and start installing. The installer will eventually ask you to configure partitions. Now delete you infected windows partition and ask ubuntu to partition the drive as it wants to. Ubuntu will then make new partitions and format them. Remember that your Windows is not irretrievably gone, so backup any data you can salvage before doing this. Besides, Windows viruses and worms cannot affect Linux.

Well, Ubuntu, stick it in, and go for it----Worst thing that could happen---you might have to re-install windows, and delete particians to clean the worm out.
