You're body is probably just in the "shock" phase. Especially after slamming into the dash board. However, you said your boy went 20 mph.. the sudden stop shouldn't have that much of an impact to possibly break a bone.. That's like grandpa speed, but uh.. you should definitely go check with your Dr. about that. As you did mention your bf stopped suddenly. If the pain worsens and bother you more with every little movement you make, ask your doctor for physical therapy. I think its just some internal bruising, it'll probably be more sore tomorrow.
I've had many car accidents involving me as the passenger, and my body's soreness would get worse the next day or two. It's usually temporary though. So just hang in there and then decide if you should go to see your Dr. after a day or two..
Good Luck! Get well! =)

Tell your parents and go to the hospital or ER. They will ask you what happened but I doubt they are going to call the police and report you. They will remind you to wear your seat belt next time as well as your parents telling you the same thing. you could have easily cracked a rib or 2 with a sudden stop like that.

I would suggest seeing a doctor. It could be broken, cracked, or bruised. It is impossible to tell without an X-ray. An impact at 20mph is enough to break bones. If the pain becomes excruciating, visit the ER. It is not impossible to have internal bleeding and it CAN become life threatening at that point.
If it is just bruising, they will send you home.

It could be just bruised, or it very well could be broken.
Either way, there is nothing that can be done except time. There is nothing a doctor can do for a broken rib except wrap you and give you pain killers.
You do need to see your doctor to make sure everything else is okay, though. You could have internal injuries you're not aware of.
PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEATBELT. YOU WANT TO LIVE TO SEE 18, DON'T YOU?

I'd say really bruised. I'm about the same size and it hurts to get hit like that. If it's still there in couple days maybe see a doctor but I wouldn't worry about it yet. You probably bruised the bone or something underneath.

ER and now. I can remember a champion rodeo cowboy who tried to ignore a cracked rib. He got bumped wrong and it punctured his lung and killed him.
Pain means there is something wrong, and usually the more pain, the worse it is.

you should just kind of take it easy for a like a day and if the pain eases the next day then give it another day.
if it's really bothering you, then you should have it checked out.
better to be safe than sorry.

You broke one of your ribs. Go to a hospital now.
If you think it's expensive, think about how much it's going to cost you if you leave it, not only monetarily but in the damage to your body.
