Yes. Without doubt and in an instant. However, I'd like to point out that recent research has shown that it's more necessary to do chest compressions than it is to give mouth-to-mouth: since it's not actually pumping in oxygen, it doesn't do an awful lot of good to push your old CO2 into someone's lungs.
I've linked to several articles on the topic, including one from the American Heart Association.
Would you do it? Now that you know that it might not be necessary to ventilate, is there any reason not to?

#1: You don't know he is dying until you check his vital signs and begin CPR. The Red Cross supplies a protective mouthpiece for the squeamish. The quicker you begin, the better the odds of saving a life. Immediately yell out for anyone to call 911 and begin and continue CPR until the medics arrive to take over.
Think of a flame of a candle. It uses up oxygen as it burns. Without oxygen the flame will go out. A human needs oxygen to survive, and that's what you're doing by giving CPR.
I hope all who read this will sign up for a Red Cross course. Including young Dads and Moms. Hopefully you'll never have to perform CPR on your child as he is choking on a piece of food!

no.. because i carry one of the little single use 1-way valve CPR mask.. but if i did not know the persons history.. and he was a complete stranger on the street that passed out for no apparent reason.. i might not do mouth to mouth.. i would probably just do compressions maybe.

How many people in this world do you know in person?
99.999% of them are "strangers."
So, what is the difference?
