I read from another member on here
that the drugs they use to treat it are dangerous and not really effective in solving the problem anyway..
is this true??

It comes back if it's not truly removed surgically (the right way - not vaporized or ablated, but excised - see www.centerforendo.com as to what excision is), because it was never really gone in the first place. And, even surgery done the right way by the best Endosurgeon in the world is not 100% assured to relieve it...it is the best option, however.

Drug suppression therapy is temporary at best and confers massive amounts of side effects in exchange for short-term relief (if any relief at all).

See www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erc, www.endocenter.org/pdf/2007ScreeningEducationKit.pdf and www.endometriosissurgeon.blogspot.com for more information and education on the best treatments and hope to cope. Good luck to you.

Yes, endometriosis can come back to cause problems for some women (I'm one of them) but not always. I've met some women that have had an initial surgery to diagnose the endo but not have anymore problems with it until 10 years or so after the initial diagnosis. It has a lot to do with how the body deals with the disease because some (myself included) strongly believe there's an autoimmune component to endometriosis.

As for some of the medication options like Lupron (and the one I take Zoladex-which I don't have many problems with) there can be some serious side effects but not every woman will experience them.

They can help keep the endo pain under control for a time for some women but it's not a permanent fix. Surgery gives the better chance at longer relief for a long time if the doctor is experienced at removing endo from some very difficult areas on top of the usual areas.

But again, surgery although it gives the better chance at longer relief it's not a permanent fix either.

There are some women who also use alternative treatments like Traditional Chinese Medication that sometimes helps with treating endometriosis.

Some also use dietary changes to help keep the endometriosis under control.

There's a good book I would like to recommend because it can answer all of your questions as well. It's called What your Doctor didn't tell you about Endometriosis by Kerry Ann Morris.

Also, here's the link to a website that may help you find even more information about endometriosis. It's at: http://www.endocenter.org

The secret to dealing with the endo if it starts to come back and create problems is to make your doctor aware of what you are noticing as soon as possible.

For me with my endo I have to have the pill, Zoladex (when necessary), and surgery every so many years to check its status to keep my endo under control.

If you have additional questions for me please feel free to
e-mail or IM me off site any time.

I even have had my endo bumped off surgically as quickly as each and every 2 years for the previous ten years. My document ultimately mentioned that i wanted a hysterectomy - at 36. i attempted beginning administration pills and it did no longer help. I even have never been able to get pregnant and the assumption-approximately having a hysterectomy exchange into depressing at my age. My advice is that if the endo isn't bothering you - like in case you're no longer experiencing any soreness and you're no longer attempting to get pregnant - then permit it pass. being pregnant is a therapy for endo for the duration of being pregnant - even though it may recur after menstruation starts off back. good success, at your age it style of sounds like this could be something you need to maintain your eye on.
