Kansas is a good place to live, however the better jobs are close to Kansas City. If you don't want to live in Missouri but be 20 min away from Kansas City try Lenexa, Olathe or Overland Park Kansas. There are lots of jobs availible in your field in Kansas City. A 2 bedroom apartment can cost $800 a month. Lots to do and see in Kansas City!

First off, I'm from Missouri, so I can only give you a good opinion of what Missouri has. If you want to move to a big city like Kansas City or Saint Louis you will have more job opportunities, it will, however, cost more to live their. What I would suggest is a moderate size city. Something like St. Joseph or Columbia. It is big enough to provided a job in computers and software, yet the cost of living is no where near as much as the big cities.

In Kansas I guess this means you could move somewhere like Wichita or Topeka, or even Emporia.

If you're skilled in computers you need a big city. Kansas City is the largest metropolis in the area. It's not as advanced as other places on the coast, so your skills may not be fully realized here. However, the cost of living is low. You can get a decent house for $150k. You can get a nice house for $250k. Try doing that on the coast.

Consider Lawrence, KS. It is the home of one of the largest universities in the USA. KU is the home of the Jayhawks.

Because it is a university city of population 175,000 it is full on international cultures and also lots of pretty girls.

The average cost of a 2 bedroom duplex is $500-600 per month. The city is located within driving distance of Kansas City, Kansas and also Kansas City, MO.

The surrounding cities of Olathe, Lenexa, Overland Park, going east towards KC and also driving distance going west to the state Capital of Topeka, KS.

There is an abundance of job opportunities.

The cost of living is less in Lawrence, but the pay is higher going west to KC. I have commuted for the last 3 years. I pay less to live and earn more for my savings account.

Good luck,

I would check out saint louis, mo, if that's a possibility for you.

i think job opportunity is high, i was raised here and i still love it and will not move away. the city is growing and very beautiful. there's everything a very large city would have, with less population.

cost of living can be very low. if you live in central st. louis county, which gives you access to everything very quickly, you can find a nice one bedroom for $500-600, nice 2 bedroom for $800-900. this is probably more expensive than kansas, but if you decide to live in outer saint louis, a little bit farther away from the city, it gets cheaper. look at saint charles, or south county or north county.

i suggest finding roommates on a roommate website, or craigslist.org, where you can search apartments, subleases, houses for rent, etc. hope that helps :) sorry, i don't know too much about kansas....
