Since nausea is a possible symptom of pregnancy, it is very important for a doctor to KNOW whether or not a girl/woman is or isn't pregnant, because the choice of medications is affected by that. There are some that should never be given to pregnant women because they can cause birth defects, miscarriages, and other problems. And as you say, some teens won't tell, or just don't know, or don't know how to tell the doctors that they are, so the doctor has decided to check. It may seem over the top to you, but he was protecting you, and him/herself.
***Yes, he should have told you what the tests were for, and you should remember it is your right to ask when you want to know something.

It is legal. They have to do a pregnancy test despite what you say to rule out that possiblity. Once it is medically proven that the problem is not pregnancy, they can begin to look at other possibilities. It's simply just to rule it out and they do it on everybody. They aren't trying to invade your privacy, they are trying to figure out what's wrong.

they check all females in the age groups of 11-45 as for you could llie and say you never had sex, and really be preg. and than it is a liability between the dr and you. Trust me I work in health care it wasnt just you. I hate to walk in a room of an 11 year old girl and say well before we do a thing we have to make sure your not prego... Parents get upset.. kids get upset..

They did the right thing. They have to do it if you have a uterus.
