Nucleotides of DNA are made up of 3 components:
1. deoxyribose (a five carbon sugar)
2. a nitrogenouse base (either a purine or a pyrimadaine)
3. a phosphate group (linked to the 5-carbon sugar, it is a strong acid),

So ... D) a phosphate, sugar, and a base

deoxyribose sugar and thymine Ribose and uracil are in RNA only, so that leaves only the above choice. Altho not all DNA need to have a thymine group, they can also have a cytosine, guanine or adenine group. But must have a deoxyribose, hence the name deoxyribonucleic acid.
