Without a doubt, they should. They Ravens are out of the playoffs so they might as well try to salvage their season by seeing if they have a quarterback for next year. The game's against Miami so they don't have to worry about their quarterback being overwhelmed. IF Smith wins and looks good from now to the end of the year, then you have your qb for next year and don't have to waste an early round draft pick for a qb. If Smith fails and looks terrible as a starter, then at least they know that they need to draft a quarterback and they can also cut him if they wish. I live in Maryland and the people here do want to see Smith. It gives the Ravens fans a reason to watch them.

Give Boller a chance? He's had five years worth of chance. Baltimore is in deep waters right now, Boller obviously isn't the solution, so they have nothing to lose by seeing what Troy can do. Worst case scenario is that he isn't the answer and they find someone else. Best case scenario is they find a quarterback for the future. I think Smith should get significant playing time, but he won't because for some reason Brian Billick hates him and doesn't want him to succeed. Maybe it's because Billick can't face the fact that he was wrong about Boller being any good.
The Ravens were in this same situation recently with Derek Anderson. They cut him without giving him a chance, and now look what he's doing. Third best QB in the AFC behind Brady and Manning, taking the Browns to the verge of a playoff spot. I hope Billick and the Ravens front office don't make the same mistake again.

Yes! Being a fellow Buckeye like Troy Smith, I want to see this kid get his shot-that's the selfish view on my part. Now the unbiased view is this: He can't be any less effective then Boller who is an absolute joke. Smith is VERY mobile. He can elude and he does have an excellent field presence. The kid does have an arm. You might as well see what you have if you are Baltimore. The hit on Smith has been his size. Ask Drew Brees how much being under 6 ft 3 has mattered to him. Why have the guy on the team if you are not going to play him??? It's not like thay have any good QB's in front of him. And what better game to have him start...I mean it is Miami.

I think he should however...
1. Baltimore doesn't see future through the eyes of Troy Smith at QB.
2. Smith has almost no playing time, and this game vs. the Dolphins is bigger than most people think, the Ravens don't want to be the ones giving the Dolphins their first loss, so they will go with Boller, who they trust.
3. Boller gives them the best chance to win the game right now, maybe the subsequent games they should start Smith however.

He should see time in the second half of the last game of the year, since those quarters have mostly become exhibition games for teams with no chance for the playoffs or have clinched a playoff spot & cannot advance their position. If Smith was prepared to play serious minutes, the Ravens would have used him by now. The club desperately needs a QB, but they don't need to experiment versus Miami.

Sure, why not. Against a crap team like Miami Troy Smith might not look too bad.

He should play the whole game. Boller is mediocre and always will be. Give Troy a chance, he is probably better suited athletically to play receiver, but why not give the kid a chance, you sure don't have anything to lose.

He should play in the last two games, and only the second half in the Miami game.
I don't want to see him get blamed for possibly providing Miami their first win this season.
I think he'll do great. I have tons of confidence in him.

Should he play, yes. Should he start, no. Boller is your best chance at winning, it's why he's been the backup all year long. HOW did you not think Baltimore would get raped by the colts? Colts have their mojo back and Baltimore played their hearts out in the loss to the Pats. It was an easy prediction, but to ponder a QB change... let's give Boller a chance.

Yes this is the Ravens QB of the future and why waste time on a QB who isn't going to be around forever like boller
I think the Ravens should make this desicion based on the fact that their other options are weak and their season is already sunk
