Because the t.v. people have no idea how to broadcast a sport event.

They waste most of the time talking about how someone overcame a life threatening struggle to become an Olympic athlete, and not showing the events.

Also the Olympics have gotten too large, with sports that did not and should not be a part of the Olympics.

When the Olympics are held in different time zones that are not in the U.S. prime broadcast periods they try to pretend excitement and drama when we know the results from the Internet.

They very seldom show an entire event, and their idea of highlights do not agree with my ideas.

they're not boring, it's actually the greatest 2 week span for any true sports fan and any true fan of the spirit of competition (when they're not being rigged anyway). Maybe you're just stuck with the US coverage of them, find a way to get the coverage from Canada where they show all of the sports, and all of the athletes and show the events live without all of the nonsense added after ther results are in and it'll be much better. If not, just don't watch them.

The vast audience will watch a U.S. team member who is competing for a gold medal, even if the sport is "obscure." But there has to be that good chance for victory....it goes back to two adages - No medals for trying & You don't win silver, you lose gold. Also, the time difference due to the country hosting the Games can be a major problem. If you know the results 12 hours before it airs, the incentive to watch is basically gone unless - again - it is a brilliant performance for the gold.

I do not find the Olympics to be boring at all, in fact i look forward to them every 2 years (rotating winter and summer). I so love collecting the pins, and visiting or getting pictures of the cauldrons

Because they only show the sports the americans are good at. All the cool stuff like judo and fencing is on at rediculous times.

Because they are not the sports you are accustomed to watching, and they are made for competition, not money like professional sports.
