Potassium (symbol K) is one of the alkali metals (first group on the periodic table). Other members of the group are hydrogen, lithium, sodium, cesium, rubidium, and francium.

Potassium is a light, soft metal which can easily be cut with a butter knife. Like the other metals in this group, it is so reactive that it must be kept under dry mineral oil or otherwise protected from the air. It reacts very violently with water to produce hydrogen gas and potassium hydroxide (similar to lye). The reaction is likely to ignite the hydrogen, causing an explosion.

Potassium (in the form of of its compounds) is vital to both plant and animal nutrition. Its compounds are very important, and have many other uses.

Look it up. I had to do that project to, I used lots of websites from colleges that I found through Google.
One that I remember from the many years ago that I had to do that project is that prunes have more potassium then bananas.

Its used in fireworks, since Potassium in the presence of water makes a violent, bright, purple flame.

bananas are full potassium, but eat 2 much and you may loose a body part ( crippled )

bananas are full of potassium.....and if you mix two part potassium to 5 parts salt you get kool-aid
