The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) applies to leaves of absence longer than a single shift. The most common use is taking up to 13 weeks when having a child. I fail to see how it applies to an absence DURING a shift.

Huh? FMLA is for a medical condition verified by a doctor, not for going home sick.
