My neighbour just left her job after being humiliated over the loud speaker at her job. (night stocking shift at a national corporate retailer). Whe is of "different abilities" than the average Canandian. She's one of those who may have "fallen through the cracks". She's independent enough to live with a sibling of similar abilities. She's held retail jobs before, but works slower (admittedly) than most. Her latest employer, as mentioned above, humiliated her in regards to her work pace over the loud speaker. She was so humiliated that she decided to terminate her employment. She was told to write a letter of resignation stating that her decision to quit had nothing to do with anything that was said to her.
I am outraged, she is tired and her morale is low. Is there anything that can be done? Should she just forget & move on? It doesn't seem right! This is a well known national store that prides itself in it's community links, & it's equal rights stance when it comes to employees.

I work for a multi billion dollar corporation and regularlly take ethics training courses madated by corporate. the answer is Maybe. Unfortunately to be covered by the federal laws you have to take steps leading up to quiting, however due to her fallen through the cracks type of person you mentioned she very wel could get restitution. She needs to get a lawer ASAP thats total BS and i personally would have tore that boss a new one...... good luck!

I don't know the answer, but this is a deplorable situation, and if you don't get an answer on here, try calling the Legal Aid Society. You're very kind to care so much!
