Are America's best days behind her, or is the best yet to come? I KNOW we live in the best and most wonderful country in the world with the hard-won freedoms we have, but what will the future be like?

I agree. It seems in the last 10-15 years, little by little the country is becoming more cynical about everything. If a country cannot be positive, and work together how can it have a future? A perfect example is how we now produce little in real goods, but have transformed to a service economy.

Irish, thanks for the sentiment.

Its declining. Americas peak was last decade. We are about where the ancient Romans were in the year 380AD. Only 96 more years to go before complete defeat.

The best days are definitely behind the U.S. I live in Chicago by the way. The future appears to be one of survival in many areas. Just take one day at a time.

WAy behind.. eveyone elses money is worth 'more' than ours now.

(used to be able to go to Canada & get $1.49 the 1st time we went in 96..this time in '06..only got like abotu 10 cents per dollar extra!)
Euros are worth more. Forget abotu traveling now. you'll be paying double.

i got a better idea.. how about a time machine to fix buba's mistake of oh HOW many have died? Not to mention getting the economy back.

The future will be the same old $hyt. Even if we elect a socialist president (Hillary Clinton) there is so much Gridlock built into the system that we will be fine. I am still voting for Guliani.. ... ... ..

I think the future is looking pretty bleak right now. At the rate we're going, things are not going to get better.
