That is the "spot" price for 24 karat gold. Since gold comes in bricks, ingots and coins, the price you will have to pay to buy it and the price you will receive on selling will vary from that. Generally, for small amounts of gold, you will pay 2-3% above spot to buy gold and can sell it for 2-3% below spot. That 4 to 6% is where the gold money is made, buying low and selling high.

24K gold is called fine gold, which is 99.99 or 99,95 gold ( there is no 100% gold till now ). 18K gold means 75% ( 18/24) fine gold; 14K gold means 58% ( 14/24) fine gold. all of jewelry setted with stones are made with 18k or 14k gold; 24k gold could not be used due to it is too soft to hold stones. all of the are good in value side.

when discussing bullion, it is always 24k, the pure.
14k means it's mixed with other metals. Nickel isn't $822/oz.

Actually, 24K is a jewelry term, if you buy investment gold it is usually classed as .9999 or .999.
