I can't believe people are knocking this name! It is lovely, a good strong boy's name, and they DO go well together. Jackson is horrible, please don't name him that! Jack James is fine just as it is.

I don't like one syllable names together or names starting with the same letter, so I do not like Jack James. I like Jack on its own or Jackson James is okay.

Jack is fine, though I prefer it as a nickname personally, and James is also a classic choice, though a bit too common a filler middle name for my taste.
But together? I don't care for it on so many levels. Two single-syllables names never make for the best-sounding combo. Neither do alliterative ones. Not to mention the fact that alliterative Js, in particular, come across as cheesy/uneducated/lower-class (take your pick) in light of the obvious association with trashy celeb usage (Ms. Spears' tragic baby-name fiasco immediately comes to mind with nearly any JJ name ... as does John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt LOL). And Jack James in particular? Sounds like a shady used-car dealership.
Not two I'd pair, to be honest.
