That is disgusting. It is really a shame that the most powerful country in the world has such evil people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome

I have noticed this. But I also have paid attention to the fact that you will rarely see a little white girl from a trailer park or ghetto recieve publicity like this. It is usually women from Ivy league colleges or women with powerfull and wealthy families that recieve this coverage, which almost makes you believe it is more about money, and social status then anything else.

Yes, I think they do, but not just white people per se. Only young, pretty white girls. Men, people of color, and older people who go missing all get much less coverage. I feel bad for the families of anyone who goes missing, but I do think there is biased coverage in the media.

It is disgusting that this happens. A sad side effect of this excessive coverage is that it gives the perpetrators the notoriety they are seeking.

Too many months of 24 hour news coverage of Natalie Holloway has not brought us any closer to resolution about this murder. It has drawn attention from other important news that has been slighted because it isn't as spectacular.

Well the majority of the government in the US are rich, white, Christian men from the South.

With a government like that what do you expect?

It's not purposely. The media does everything that the public will be interested in and want to watch to see what happens. We are more interested in a bond blue eyed little girl missing. If we as a society stop giving into the media than the media will have to change it's reporting, but it starts with us.

That's really interesting. I had never heard of the "syndrome" before, but I can definitely see it in action in my local and national media coverage. I believe it with our long history of racism. Sad.

Before you hurt yourself jumping to conclusions and assigning labels, the article actually states "...alleged disproportionate media coverage of white female victims..."

Did you catch that? No? Okay, here it is again >ALLEGED<
