how do you keep water from getting slick & slimey after about a week?

I'm not sure what you're using the water for but standing water will grow slick and slimy algae after a while. Can you add some Clorox to it? This will keep the algae from growing, but it could be detrimental to whatever you're doing.

What are you using the water for? If you keep the water moving with pumps , But like the first answerer said bleach

Why would you let it sit this long, it's not healthy, just clean it up when it happens.
