For making a really bad decision? .......Like marrying someone who's not good for them?.....After they asked your opinion & did it anyway?

Back in 1972 a friend told me who he was marrying and I told him it was a bad decision, but he let me pick the song they play after they get married and walk back down the aisle, so I had them play Another One Bites the Dust by Queen. His wife hated it and he thought privately it was funny. One year later he was divorced and told me he should have listened to me and all the others who told him he was making a big mistake. Some people just have to go their own way to find out how wrong they are, no matter what.

Huh? -- when asked for an opinion, it's for consideration --NOT a command. Bad decisions are made by all, and rather than smacking, a little help picking up pieces would be more of a friend.//That's just an opinion//

Have thought about it - but am non-violent type. But I agree some people really do SOME DUMB STUFF - but then they say love is blind. So I guess that must mean that Lust is Deaf! If they do not listen and accept the solicited advice, then offer a shoulder to cry on! What else can you do? If it is a true friend - hang on to them!

Yeah, I do it once in a while, but only if they're really old and like in a wheelchair or something. I don't want any of that slapping back stuff. Hurts, know what I mean. Ewww.

No, I have never wanted to treat a friend this way. We all make bad decisions, but we need our friends to be there for us, to support us, not condone us, when things don't go as we'd like. That's what real friends do.

No I have not. But perhaps someone should have slapped me (gently, of course) with some of the bad choices I have made of gentlemen callers over the years.

This reminded me of something I read recently....some people are like slinkies, they're lots of fun and you wonder how they might look when you push them down the stairs...lol

...but I digress...yes, I have had a few friends that a loving 'bop upside the head' may have done them a good turn!

No, I believe people ask for your opinion just to have you for a sounding board so it doesn't offend me when they do the opposite. What good are friends if they don't stand by you even when you do stupid stuff like ignore their advice. lol

OH YEA! And I've wanted to slap myself too for not listening after I asked for advice.
